Search the event

Written by Customer Success

Search finds attendees, sessions, speakers and sponsors by keyword. The search is the same in the mobile app and the web app.

At events with Discovery, you can also browse recommendations and ask questions in your own words.

Where to find it

  • Mobile app: the magnifying glass at the top left, on the first screen of each tab.

  • Web app, window narrower than 768 px: the magnifying glass at the top left of the screen.

  • Web app, 1024 px and wider: the Search box at the top of the right sidebar.

  • Web app, 768 to 1023 px: there is no general search control. Use the search buttons on the pages, listed next.

These pages also open the search limited to their own category:

  • People > Attendees: Search for attendees (the button carries the page's name if the organizer renamed it).

  • Speakers: Search for speakers.

  • Schedule: the magnifying glass next to the filters.

  • Sponsors and other sponsor pages: the magnifying glass at the top of the list. When the page has only one category, the button reads Search for Sponsors (with the page's name).

Search by keyword

  1. Open the search. The screen lists Categories: People, Schedule, Speakers and Sponsors, plus any extra sponsor pages. The names follow the names your organizer gave the pages, and a category appears only when the event has that page.

  2. Choose a category.

  3. Enter at least 2 characters. Results update as you type.

  4. Select a result to open the person's profile, the session, the speaker or the sponsor's booth.

People results for a company name, showing attendees from that company

What each category searches:

  • People: name, company, job title, introduction text and interests. Enter a company name to find everyone from that company.

  • Schedule: session title, subtitle, description and location. Results are grouped by day. You only see sessions you have access to.

  • Speakers: name, job title and company.

  • Sponsors: name, subtitle and booth description.

Results load 20 at a time. Scroll down to load more. Select Cancel to clear the search.

Recent searches

A search is saved when you press return or the search key on the keyboard. The next time you open the search with an empty field, the screen shows Recent searches with up to 8 of them. Select one to run it again. Select ✕ Clear all to delete them.

Recent searches are stored on your account, per event. They are the same on your phone and in your browser.

Browse Discovery

Discovery brings together event resources and recommendations. Open Menu > Discovery in the mobile app. In the web app, select Discovery in the left menu, or under Menu on a narrow window. The organizer can give the page another name.

  • Select a shortcut near the top to open an event resource, such as venue information or FAQs.

  • Browse Top networking picks for you to find people to meet.

  • Browse Recommended sessions and Recommended speakers for program suggestions.

  • Browse Featured for you for companies. Additional companies can appear under You might be interested in.

Recommendations use your networking interests. Select a card to open its details. See all opens the corresponding People, Schedule, Speakers or Sponsors page. Sections with no recommendations are hidden.

If Discovery is missing, AI search is not available for your account at this event. You can still use keyword search.

Ask anything (AI search)

When AI search is available, the magnifying glass and the Search box open Ask anything about the event. You can also select Ask anything on Discovery.

  1. Enter a question of up to 500 characters, for example "sessions about fintech" or "People networking about AI".

  2. Press return. The answer opens on the Discovery page.

  3. The overlay keeps your questions under Recent.

Answers are generated by AI. The screen says so: "Results use generative AI and may contain mistakes." Check a result before you act on it. Select Clear beside your question to return to Discovery's recommendations.

The keyword search stays available from Search for attendees, Search for speakers, and the magnifying glass on Schedule and Sponsors.

Good to know

  • People you blocked, and people who blocked you, never appear in results.

  • At some events, People also lists people who registered but have not joined yet. They appear in search too.

  • The organizer can hide people whose ticket does not allow networking. They then don't appear in People results.

  • If a Categories entry is missing, the event does not have that page.

Troubleshooting

"No results found for “<your words>“"
Nothing matches in that category. Check the spelling, try a shorter word, or choose another category. A person you can't find can also be someone who has not joined the event yet.

Nothing happens when you type one letter
Results start at 2 characters.
