Fix "Server Error" and connection problems when signing in

Written by Customer Success

A Server Error screen or a Something went wrong notification means the app could not get a valid answer from Brella. Try again, then work through the steps.

Messages and what they mean

"Server Error"
Shown with a Retry button on screens that load data, for example My events. The text under the title names the problem, for example There was a problem with our server. Please try again later. Brella's server answered with an error. Bad Gateway and Service Unavailable mean the same thing.

"No internet connection" — "Your phone seems to be offline at the moment. Please check your internet connection and try again."
Shown on the same screens. The app got no answer at all: you are offline, the connection is blocked, or the request timed out.

"Something went wrong"
A short notification after Sign in with password. The sign-in request failed without a message from the server.

Nothing happens after Continue
The address is not in a valid email format. Continue does not contact the server; the code request starts on the next screen.

"Could not send the code. Please try again."
On Verify your email, the code request did not reach Brella or failed. Check your connection. When the countdown ends, select Resend code.

"The code is invalid or expired." although the code is correct
On Verify your email, this message also appears when the server failed to check the code. Select Resend code and try the new code.

Fix it

  1. Select Retry, or try the sign-in step again.

  2. Check your connection. Open another website or app. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or try your phone's hotspot.

  3. Web app: reload next.brella.io. Turn off any ad or content blocker for the site. Use a normal window, not private browsing.

  4. Mobile app: close the app fully from your device's app switcher and open it again.

  5. Update the app. The mobile app needs iOS 15.6 or later. In the web app, update your browser.

  6. On a company network or device, ask your IT team to allow Brella's domains. See Network and firewall requirements.

  7. Try another device or network. If it works there, the problem is the first device or network.

If you are already signed in

Select your profile picture, then Account > Troubleshoot. The Internet connection check tells you if the app can reach Brella's server; Browser in the web app tells you if the browser or a blocker is the problem. Follow Technical troubleshooting steps. If the problem stays, select Share diagnostic report (mobile app) or Download diagnostic report (web app) and send the report to support.

Contact support

  • Signed out: select the question-mark icon in the top right of the email, password and Create an account screens.

  • Signed in: select the question-mark icon in the app. It opens the support chat when the event has one, otherwise Help > Contact Support. In an organizer's own branded app the icon appears only when the event has support chat.

Describe what you did, what you expected and what happened, and add a screenshot of the message.
