Clear the app cache

Written by Customer Success

Clearing the app cache removes the data the app keeps in memory and loads it again from the server. It fixes screens that show old or broken data. It does not sign you out and does not change your settings.

Where to find it

  • Mobile app: select your profile picture (top right), then App cache under Account settings. You can also open Menu > Settings.

  • Web app: select Account in the left menu, or your profile picture at the top right, then App cache. In windows narrower than 768 px, open Menu > Settings.

Clear the cache

  1. Open Account > App cache.

  2. Select Clear app cache.

  3. The app shows "App cache cleared".

Clear offline data on the Account > Troubleshoot screen does the same. It asks "Clear offline data?"; select Clear.

Web app: clear site data in the browser

If clearing the app cache does not help, clear the browser's stored data for the web app. This signs you out of the web app.

  1. Open your browser's site settings for next.brella.io (or your event's own web address if the organizer has a branded app; it ends in .brella.io).

  2. Clear the site data and cookies. The exact steps depend on your browser.

  3. Reload the page and sign in again.

Private browsing and blocked site data sign you out on every reload. Use a normal window and allow site data for the web app. Account > Troubleshoot > Browser shows "Storage blocked" when this is the cause.

The web app has no "local forage" database to delete. Steps from older guides that use the browser's developer tools no longer apply.

Mobile app: update or reinstall

  1. If the Home screen shows Update available with the text "Please restart the app to apply", select Restart.

  2. Open Account > Troubleshoot and check App version. Select Restart to update or Download update when a quick update is waiting, or Open App Store, Update or Open Google Play when a store update is waiting.

  3. If the problem continues, delete the app from your phone and install it again from the App Store or Google Play. You need to sign in again.

Good to know

  • Logging out (Account > Log out) also clears all cached data for your account.

  • The app cache holds temporary data only. Your profile, meetings and chats are stored on the server.
