Join a meeting

You join an accepted meeting from its chat. A virtual meeting has a video room. An in-person meeting has a time and a place, which the chat shows under Meeting details.

Where to find it

  • Mobile app: Networking tab > Chats > the meeting.

  • Web app: Networking in the left menu > Chats > the meeting. In a browser window narrower than 768 px, Networking is the handshake icon in the bottom bar.

Accepted meetings also show as cards in My Schedule, as tiles in the Schedule timeline (or the name your organizer gave it), and in the Spotlight section of the home page from 10 minutes before the start. Select any of them to open the chat. The other person's profile shows Join call. The reminder notification also opens the chat.

Join a virtual meeting

  1. Open the meeting chat.

  2. Select the camera icon to the left of the message box. You can also open the ⋯ menu at the top right and select Join video call. Meeting cards show a Join button when neither of you attends in person.

  3. Allow camera and microphone access when the app or the browser asks.

  4. Check your camera and microphone in the preview, then join the room.

The ⋯ menu of an accepted meeting with Join video call

Where the room opens:

  • Mobile app, and the web app in a window narrower than 1024 px: inside the app, on a screen titled Call with <first name> (Group video call for a group meeting). Leave the call with the back arrow in the header.

  • Web app in a window 1024 px or wider: in a separate browser pop-up window. If the browser blocks the pop-up, the call opens inside the page. Allow pop-ups for the web app to get the separate window.

The room shows your first name as your display name.

Reminder before the meeting

5 minutes before a meeting with a time slot starts, you get a push notification: Meeting in 5 minutes with <name> (You have a group meeting in 5 minutes for a group meeting). It shows the start and end time. Select it to open the meeting chat.

A participant who was added to the meeting by the organizer and has not joined the app gets an email instead. Its subject is Your virtual meeting with <name>.

Join late

You can open the room at any time. Brella creates the video room when the meeting is requested and keeps it open until 2 days after the event's last day. Opening the room does not notify the other person.

Good to know

  • The camera icon is hidden when both you and the other person attend in person. Join video call stays in the ⋯ menu.

  • The video room is only shown once the meeting is accepted. A pending meeting has no camera icon.

  • If you don't see Networking, the organizer has turned off networking for your ticket type.

  • The Networking badge counts unread messages and incoming meeting requests.

Troubleshooting

The call opened inside the page instead of a new window
