Organizers send announcements as push notifications. You can also read them in the app, under Announcements and Activity on the Home screen.
Where announcements appear
Push notification on your phone, or a browser notification in the web app.
Announcements story at the top of the Home screen. It lists every announcement sent to you.
Activity tile on the Home screen. It opens Activity history with the announcements, meeting notifications and session RSVP updates that Brella sent to you as push notifications. The badge on the tile counts items you have not opened on this device. Select an announcement to open it.
Spotlight on the Home screen shows "New announcement arrived from the event organizer!" for 10 minutes after the announcement was sent.
Turn on notifications
The Notifications row in Account shows "You are not receiving notifications" when something is off.
Open Account > Notifications.
If you see Enable Push Notifications, select Enable and allow notifications in the prompt from your phone or browser. The app shows "Push notifications enabled!".
If you see the Subscribe to notifications switch, turn it on.
Mobile app: if you declined the permission earlier, Enable opens your phone's settings so you can allow it there. Adjust preferences opens the same settings.
Web app: the browser must allow notifications for the web app's address. Until it does, the screen shows only Enable Push Notifications and Show status; the Subscribe to notifications switch appears after you allow notifications. If you blocked them, select the icon to the left of the address bar, set Notifications to Allow and reload. On iPhone and iPad, browser notifications only work after you add the web app to your Home Screen (Share > Add to Home Screen) and open it from there.
There is no Opt back in button. That button belonged to the old web app.
Troubleshooting
You see other notifications but not an announcement
The organizer can send an announcement to selected lists only. If you are not on the list, you do not receive it and it does not appear in Announcements or Activity. Ask the organizer.
An announcement is in Announcements but not in Activity
Activity only keeps announcements that were sent to you as push notifications. If notifications were off on all your devices when the organizer sent it, read it in the Announcements story.
Notifications stopped after you logged out
Logging out stops notifications to that device. Sign in again to receive them.
Account > Troubleshoot shows "Blocked" or "Off in the app" under Notifications
"Blocked" means your phone or browser blocks notifications for Brella. Select Open Settings (mobile app) or follow the browser steps in the check. "Off in the app" means the Subscribe to notifications switch is off. Select Turn on.
The web app shows "Some services blocked" under Account > Troubleshoot > Browser
An ad or content blocker stops the notification service (Notifications in the check result). Pause the blocker for the web app and reload.
The "Get alerted when ..." sheet keeps coming back
The app shows this sheet when you open the event Home while notifications are off. Select Enable notifications to turn them on. Not now hides the sheet for 3 days.
