Delete your account and data

Deleting your Brella account removes the account and its data at once. It cannot be undone. Do this in the mobile app or in the web app; the steps are the same.

Before you start

  • Warning: deletion is permanent. Brella cannot restore the account, its events, meetings or chats. See Deleted accounts can't be recovered.

  • If you only want to stop using the app for now, select Account > Log out instead. Your account and events stay.

  • Deleting the mobile app from your phone does not delete your account.

Where to find it

  • Mobile app: select your profile picture at the top right, on My events or inside an event. Delete account is the last row under Account settings.

  • Web app: select your profile picture in the top bar, or Account in the left menu. In windows narrower than 768 px, open Menu > Settings.

Delete the account

  1. Open Account and scroll to the bottom of Account settings.

  2. Select Delete account. The row reads This is permanent.

Bottom of the Account page with the Log out and Delete account rows (crop to the last rows; leave out the name and photos)

  3. In the Delete account dialog, select Delete account.

The app shows Deleting your account..., then Account deleted, and returns to the welcome screen signed out.

What is deleted

  • Your account: email address, name, photos, password, company and social media details, and settings.

  • Your registration for every event you joined: event profile, interests, availability, answers to the organizer's questions, list memberships and session registrations. If the organizer registered you, that registration and your personal join code are deleted too.

  • Meetings and meeting requests you sent or received, for everyone in them. If someone added you to their meeting as an extra participant, only your place is removed.

  • The chat messages you sent, your posts, replies and likes in Spaces, your bookmarks, notifications and blocked users, and the devices registered for push notifications.

  • Your pitch reel videos disappear from the app.

Contact the event organizer about data they hold about you.

If you have two accounts

Brella cannot merge accounts. Keep the account that holds your event registrations and delete the other one.

  1. Sign in to each account and check My events to see which one has your events.

  2. Sign in to the account you do not need and delete it: Account > Delete account.

  3. If you want the remaining account to use the deleted account's email address, change its email. See Change your email address.

Good to know

  • You can create a new account with the same email address right after a deletion. Enter it on the sign-in screen and enter the code Brella emails you. See Create a Brella account.

  • To rejoin an event, you need a join code or link again. A personal code was deleted with the account; ask the organizer for a new invitation.
