Use the Networking tab

Networking holds your chats and the meeting requests other attendees sent you. To find new people, use People; to manage the conversations you already have, use Networking.

Where to find it

  • Mobile app and web app in a narrow window: Networking in the bottom tab bar. The badge counts your unread messages plus the meeting requests waiting for your answer.

  • Web app, 768 px and wider: Networking in the left menu. At 1024 px and wider, the right sidebar also shows Messages with your 6 most recent chats; See all opens Networking.

What is on the screen

From top to bottom:

  1. Shortcuts and recent conversations. Scans comes first when you can scan QR codes and opens the people you scanned. Bookmarks opens the people you bookmarked. Next to them are the people you chatted with most recently; select one to open the chat.

  2. Meeting requests. Shows "N requests awaiting your response." or "No pending requests." Select it to see every request sent to you that you have not answered. The screen also has Change my availability.

  3. Book more meetings. Opens People.

  4. Chats. Every conversation, newest first, pinned chats on top. Filter with All, Unread, Pinned and Hidden.

If you have no conversations yet, the screen says "You have no connections yet" and shows People you may want to meet with Show all. The Meeting requests and Book more meetings rows appear after your first connection.

Pin or hide a chat

  1. Press and hold a chat (mobile app) or right-click it (web app).

  2. Select Pin to keep the chat at the top of Chats, or Hide & Mute to move it to the Hidden filter and stop push notifications for it.

  3. To undo, open the menu the same way and select Unpin or Unhide & Unmute.

Hiding is personal. The other person still sees the chat and can keep writing. You see new messages when you open the Hidden filter.

People and Discovery can have other names at your event. The organizer can also hide people whose ticket does not allow networking, so not every registrant appears in People.

Good to know

  • Sponsor representatives whose company has a meeting limit see two tabs at the top: My connections and Company connections. Company connections lists the company's meetings.

  • Requests you sent are not under Meeting requests. Find them in Chats; see Meeting status.

  • If Networking shows your profile card with Start networking, you skipped networking when you joined. Select Start networking and complete your event profile.

  • If you don't see Networking at all, networking is off for your ticket. People shows "Sorry, networking unavailable". Contact the organizer.

Troubleshooting

A chat is missing
Select the Hidden filter in Chats. If the chat is there, open its menu and select Unhide & Unmute. If you blocked the person, unblock them under Account > Blocked users. See Meetings or chats are missing.

The badge count does not match
The badge adds unread messages and unanswered requests. Open the chats under the Unread filter and answer the requests under Meeting requests. If it stays, see Notification badges that don't go away.

"Press and hold a chat to hide it." or "Right click a chat to hide it."
This is the empty Hidden filter. You have not hidden any chat.
