Brella takes your time zone from your device and shows session and meeting times in it when you attend virtually. Under Account > Date & time you can choose a time zone yourself and switch between 12-hour and 24-hour time and two date formats.
Where to find it
Select your profile picture at the top right, then Date & time under Account settings. The path is the same in the mobile app and the web app.
How Brella picks the time zone
Set time zone automatically is on by default. The app reads your device's time zone when you open it or return to it, and saves it to your account.
Your account has one time zone for all events. The last device you used sets it.
If you attend an event in person, the schedule shows the event's local time, whatever your account time zone is.
If you attend virtually or as a hybrid attendee, the schedule shows your account time zone. When it differs from the event's, session headers add Event Time: with the event's local time.
Choose a time zone yourself
Open Date & time.
Under Time zone, turn off Set time zone automatically.
Select the time zone field. The Select Time Zone list is sorted by offset; search for a city or region.
Choose a zone and select Save. The app shows Your information has been updated.
The switch is remembered on this device only. On another device where Set time zone automatically is on, the app overwrites your choice with that device's time zone. To go back to automatic, turn the switch on again; the app saves your device's time zone at once.
Change the time and date format
Open Date & time.
Under Time format, choose 24H or 12H. The default is 12-hour time.
Under Date format, choose DD.MM.YYYY or MM.DD.YYYY. The default is DD.MM.YYYY.
Select Save.
Both formats apply to every event and every device.
Good to know
Brella supports a fixed list of time zones. If your device's zone is not in it, the app picks a zone with the same offset. If none matches, your account keeps its previous zone.
Your blocked times for meetings follow the same rule as the schedule: event time when you attend in person, your time zone otherwise. See Set your networking availability.
Each zone in the list is a named region and follows its own daylight saving rules. Choose the one that names your city or region.
Troubleshooting
Session or meeting times look wrong
Select your profile picture, then Account > Troubleshoot. The Time zone check compares your device's time zone with your account's and also lists the event's. If the first two differ, select Use device time zone; this also turns Set time zone automatically back on for this device.
The schedule shows the event's time although you are elsewhere
You are registered as an in-person attendee. In-person attendees always see the event's local time. Contact the organizer if your attendance type is wrong.
The time zone field is grayed out
Set time zone automatically is on. Turn it off to choose a zone.
